Bala lake was the largest natural body of water in Wales prior to the level being raised to support the flow of the Llangollen Canal. it is 4 miles wide. It is subject to sudden and dangerous flooding. It is a deep, clear lake and lies adjacent to the town of Bala.
It is famous for its water sports and houses an abundant supply of pike, perch, trout and eel. The River Dee flows into and out of Bala Lake
