Caernarfon Castle is said to be one of the most architecturally impressive of all the Welsh castles. This was the seat of power and intended as a symbol of English dominance. Caernarfon stands at the gate of the Menai Straits between North Wales and the Isle of Angelsey. Strategically this was an excellent place to locate a castle.
