Conwy Castle is probably the most impressive of all the Welsh castles and one of the greatest fortresses of medieval Europe. The castle and Conway town are surrounded by a well preserved wall. Conway Castle was an important member of the Iron Ring of Castles designed by Edward I.
The castle dominates the entry to Conwy town, immediately conveying its sense of strength. It has 8 great towers and connecting walls, all of which are intact, forming a rectangle as opposed to the concentric layouts of Edward's other Welsh castles. Almost all of the castle is accessible and well preserved.
