Dolbardarn Castle is in Llanberis, standing about 80 feet above Llyn Padarn, at the foot of Snowdon. It was built by the Welsh princes of Gwynedd and is listed as a World Hertiage Site. It dates to the 13th century, and remains in solid condition, although not as grand as it once was.
Dolbardn Castle occupied an intensely strategic position, being at the tip of Llyn Padarn and guarding the pass.
