Foryd Bay Natiional Nature Reserve is situated along the shores of the Menai Straits just beyond Caernarfon and near to Fort Belan. It is managed by Gwynedd Council. It has its own bird hide that provides good watching over the golden plover, greenshank and egrets. Offshore there are red throated divers, great northern divers, short eared owls, snow buntings and twite.
There have also been viewings of spoonbill, hoopoe, richard's pipit and sharp tailed sandpipers.
