Maen y Bardd is a classic example of the dolen type of Neolithic tomb having a large capstone balancing on the support stones to form a chamber, usually containing the bones of several people. Originally there would have been a stone cairn , the remains of which can still bhe seen around the monument.
This tomb lies on the Tal y Fan mountain overlooking the Conwy Valley. There are many more standing stones, cairns, stone circles and ancient settlements in this area.
