Maentwrog National Nature Reserve lies in the Ffestiniog valley and its name derives from the legendary Twrogs's Stone. The woodland reserve includes redstarts and wood warblers; in the uplands there are ring outzels and ravens; in the wetlands there are grasshopper warblers and sedge warblers; and on the cliffs there are choughs, guillemots, razorbills and comorants.
