The village of Portmeirion lies within the boundaries of the Snowdonia National Park, near to Porthmadog. The village owes its notoriety to the 1960's filming of "The Prisoner" starring Patrick McGoohan, which was filmed on location in the village. Most of the cast were made up of locals.
