The surfing mecca for Snowdonia is found on the Llyn Peninsula in an aptly named place called Hells Mouth, Porth Neigwl, which is near to Abersoch. This is one of the most consistent spots for good surf and picks up any swell running. The northern end of the beach tends to be where the larger waves land.
Large swells hit the coastline and refract off the cliff, forming ideal powerful wedges.
