The Ugly House is found just outside of Betwy-y-Coed, and has a rather vague history. The legend surrounding it states that it was built sometime in the 15th century by 2 outlawed brothers. An old Welsh law allowed that an area of land could be claimed as one's own if a house was erected thereon in a single night. It had to have 4 walls and have smoke coming from a chimney between sunset and sunrise.
The Ugly House is open to public viewing.
